Ace stores offering free LED bulb swap | News, Sports, Jobs

Maui, Oahu and Hawaii island residents can trade in old, ineffecient light bulbs for LED bulbs at participating Ace Hardware stores, Hawaii Energy announced Monday.

Residents can exchange up to 30 incandescent or halogen bulbs for Energy Star LED bulbs while supplies last. They can also purchase two packs of Energy Star LED bulbs for $1 each (up to 15 packs). LED bulbs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Maui, the participating Ace stores are in Kihei, Pukalani, Lahaina, Marmac Ace Kahului and Marmac Ace Wailuku.

Each inefficient bulb that gets changed to an LED can save up to $90 over its lifetime and last up to 20 years, Hawaii Energy said in a news release.
